Blended Families, For Her, For Him, Young Marrieds

Gracious Actions

Words

Words in our marriage matter. We can go through things in life, that can push us to the edge of ourselves. We get in a place of stress, or pressure, and we may not act like who we normally are. In those moments we can use words that are not becoming of a loving spouse. We may let down our guard and let loose of our kindness that we usually reserve for the one we love. This is when gracious actions are needed!

Actions

We take action everyday. We get up, we get ready, we eat, we go, we act. Action is always moving. We go through our day and take actions that we feel are necessary, but when it comes to our marriage sometimes we put it on the back burner. What if our action became necessary in your marriage and you extended grace.

Grace

Grace is unmerited favor, a forgiveness, blessing, or love that isn’t deserved. Where did it go? Marriages break up everyday and we need to know that when we want to have a blessed marriage, we have to extend grace. Let your actions become gracious. Being intentional to have gracious actions to our spouse become as necessary as food, or sleep.

A New Habit

What should we do to accomplish this daily? Make it so normal it’s a habit. Get up everyday and speak one thing to your spouse that shows love, kindness, compassion and grace. Act in a way that says I respect you enough to make it necessary to show you grace. It will soon become a habit and you will see after sometime that your marriage is coming alive again. Being full of love, forgiveness and life!

Repeat

Actions repeated over and over along with time equals miracles! Have you given up on your marriage? Have you felt like the love has seeped out? Is your marriage far from what you thought it was going to be? Repeat your gracious actions each day! Don’t give up, forgive, and repeat again. Jesus said to forgive 70 x 7 in a day. We can’t repeat it enough! Miracles come out of acting with grace.

Miracles

Even if your marriage isn’t on the rocks but is just dead, or maybe dried up of love. If your marriage is good, but you just haven’t been kind because of stress, change, or just life, remember gracious actions. When we focus on actions that have gracious qualities we will see miracles in our marriages!! What will change in your lives when we get our homes in order, and our marriages are at the forefront? Miracles!

Starting Point

How do you start this process? Prayer and the Word. This will always be your starting point. Jesus is the heart of everything we do and say. He is the author and finisher of our faith! He is the way we can love our spouses through any trial. Falling on our faces, praying, reading and speaking the word of God is our starting point. Gracious actions begin with humbling ourselves and putting Jesus first in everything.

Scriptures

Monday: Colossians 4:6 says, “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Let this be your prayer daily.

Tuesday: John 1:16 says, “And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.” So freely we have received His grace, lets extend it to our spouse.

Wednesday: Romans 12:10 says, “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;” Make this verse and the action of it necessary as your food.

Thursday: Proverbs 31:26 says, “She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.” The law of kindness is a habit formed from practice and wisdom. It’s intentional.

Friday: Matthew 18:22 says, “Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Forgiveness repeated is an action of gracious love.

Saturday: Luke 1:37 says, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Miracles happen with God in our marriage when we extend gracious actions to our spouse.

Sunday: 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” When we seek Him first and in our weakness He offers us His grace so we can give it to others.
