I for one am usually always up for change! My husband and I love a change of scenery, a change of address, a change in my day to day! Why? Because we love an adventure, a challenge, and a road trip! Let’s change it up, let’s go for a drive, let’s travel the world!!! But change isn’t always fun, it’s not always easy, and it isn’t always an easy or exciting challenge. Sometimes we have trials in marriage that make changes more of a challenge than others!
My idea of a challenge is a new idea, winning a game, finding a solution, or starting something new that my husband and I can do together! Some challenges on the other hand are not so fun. They can be hard to handle, hurtful, or seem impossible. Sometimes in marriage the challenges you face as a couple can be overwhelming.
Have you ever had a challenge in your marriage that seemed overwhelming? It could be with your marriage, or something you or your spouse are going through separately or together. Whatever the situation or problem you are facing, no matter how overwhelming it may be, you can work hand in hand to accomplish it. It does take some action on your part though, some prayer and of course giving it over to God.
Action is movement, steps forward, and motion. You can’t just sit where you are and expect to embrace change at the same time. Change that is hard will take action, movement and motion. Let’s say you and your spouse have to move in a month because of a financial situation. If you were to just sit and do nothing you would be out on the streets. A tough scenario like this requires action, and it requires that something be done quickly. So get some wisdom and get moving.
Moving may seem impossible at that moment and it will be a struggle, but that is where we grow, and stretch. Embrace this change, don’t fight it. It is your new reality. So yes you will struggle, but do it with a right attitude and demeanor. A butterfly starts as caterpillar, then builds it’s cocoon, and after it’s metamorphosis, it pushes it’s body though a tiny whole and it’s wings expand to fly! The butterfly has to have the struggle in order to fly!! This takes time to push through what seems like an impossibility of a small whole to strengthen it’s wings to fly! The struggle is real and needed!!
Time is not always on our side. Time is always moving forward, it moves whether we move with it or not. Embracing changes in your life in your marriage is not always easy, but oh so much better! When we drag our feet at the inevitable, we are only making things harder for ourselves. Time keeps us on track, it helps us to measure where we are and where we are going. If we aren’t careful it will get away from us and we will see we have wasted the time given to us. 30 days is a long time, but it can go by very quickly. It’s all in what you do with it and how you look at it. Embrace change, for it will come no matter what we do just like time will go by and we can’t stop it.
Have you ever looked at the intricate details of a butterfly? They are so beautiful!! Beauty is everywhere, if you look around, because God created this beauty! He is the Creator!! He makes all things beautiful! He is an artist and when we allow ourselves and marriage to be made in His hands, He can make it beautiful too! God is a God of process, and He allows us to struggle and go through change so we too can be like a butterfly. Embrace change, let God take you down a path that is hard, difficult and requires change so you can see His beauty in your marriage!
Our prayers for you are that you would find the beauty in embracing change instead of fighting it! That you both would work together to use the struggle to learn to fly! God has great plans for you and your marriage and will help you as you embrace the trials He allows in your life! It’s all about learning to trust God in all things!! Even the hard challenges!!
Monday: Romans 5:3 says, “And not only [so], but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;” When change comes in the form of a trial know God is working patience in your life and marriage!
Tuesday: 1 Peter 5:10 says, “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you]. What a promise and blessing! When you have suffered through a challenge or trial, God will make you perfect, stablish, strengthen and settle you! Your marriage will greatly benefit from this! Pray over and learn this scripture!
Wednesday: Psalm 61:2 says, “when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Read all of Psalm 61! This scripture is one I speak all the time when I feel overwhelmed about anything! He gives me peace when I trust Him with my heart and marriage!
Thursday: Psalm 34:17 says, “[The righteous] cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles” God want us to take action, and that is to pray, cry out, and let Him know our needs!
Friday: Matthew 19:26 says, “But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” When you are in a struggle, know nothing is impossible with God!
Saturday: Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.” Time waits for no one! But when you know the Lord you can trust that He is working all things out no matter what comes and how time flies! Embrace the change in your life today!
Sunday: Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” God is right beside you!! Trust Him with your marriage and embrace the change He has allowed in your life!
