Attitude Affects Altitude

Climb That Mountain

Imagine you are walking along a river in Colorado, along the banks, and you see a trail that goes up the mountain. You have a choice. If you want to see the amazing view, probably the one very few see, then you must decide to ascend up the trail to the top of the mountain. The other option is to keep walking, never going above the current altitude and the view will stay the same. Does your marriage have a mountain view?

What A View

Choosing to go up a little higher isn’t going to be an easy route, in fact it is more treacherous, winding, rocky, and the altitude will change. If you’ve never been in a different altitude, you don’t realize the air is also thinner. It can feel hard to breathe at times. Once your body acclimates to the altitude, you will see everything in a new way! Marriage can be difficult at times, but if you press, wait, and let things calm down, you will see how God can help you to acclimate to what is His best for you!

Survival

Along the way, there are many things that can slow you down, and you should always go prepared. Let someone know where you are and always have someone with you. Know basic survival techniques and make sure you have all your supplies if you were to get stuck. Water is a must. So why am I sharing this with you? Being prepared in marriage to know what God expects, and knowing His word, helps you to be ready when trials come along in your journey!

Know What To Do

In marriage it is better to go into it knowing where you are starting from. You and your spouse. You should also have some knowledge about marriage and what to do when problems arise. Have someone or a couple in your life who prays for you both and knows where you are, and never go it alone, always keep your spouse by your side. They are there for you, and you for them. Finding a hidden trail, is the surprise! It can be in the form of a trial, hurt, heartache, or a tragedy. The trail can also come as a blessing, a new baby, a new job or a move. Whatever happens, it will be a road less traveled.

The Trail

We all want to see the view, but most don’t want to take the trip. With all the social media posts today we can see anywhere and everywhere with just a scroll. But those who actually sacrifice for those events, that seem to come so easily, are really the ones who get to embrace the moment! They get to see a view that only they can truly enjoy. It may come through pain and stress, but they stick it out, and hold onto each other during the process.

Attitude

You see, your attitude in marriage, affects your altitude. The heights that you can reach in marriage, can soar. IF you will trust God, and each other, you can make it through anything. Most, or a big majority today, want the easy route, the quick pic, the enhanced screen view. But marriage is real, it is hard, it’s work, it takes heaps of love and forgiveness, and it is one of the best blessings you can have in this life.

Together

Your attitude can make or break a marriage. It’s a mindset, words spoken, the way we frame every thought. If we see marriage as a curse, it will be. When we look at marriage as a blessing from God, it is. It’s very simple, and how you view your marriage affects how high you can go and grow together. You can climb mountains of pains in this life, you can see great views in new endeavors together, you can endure the tragedies of this life, when you decide to have an attitude that says, “We can do this together,” “Nothing can come between us,” and “Together we can climb this mountain no matter what happens!”

Prayer

Our prayer for you as you decide it’s better to take the trail that most people avoid, is that you will see the many blessings from staying together! That you would invest now in your marriage, to know what the tools to survive and succeed are! Staying together and following the Lord to higher heights! Praying for a right attitude daily to love, forgive, and to be kind with each new step!!

Scriptures:

Monday: Matthew 7:13-14 says, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” I believe this scripture sums up choosing the path that may seem harder, but is much more rewarding!

Tuesday: James 1:2-4 says, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Choosing the higher view tries your faith, but it leaves you wanting nothing more!

Wednesday: Proverbs 11:14 says, “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” In marriage you need council and this is a must to survive and thrive!

Thursday: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” Together you will be able to climb any mountain!

Friday: Joshua 14:12 says, “Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.” Caleb sacrificed and waited, he then got the mountain he desired!

Saturday: Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” Pray you learn to have a merry heart in your marriage! This is a good attitude no matter what happens! The alternative is devastating.

Sunday: Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” When you read this scripture and apply it to your marriage you will be blessed!!
